The Marriage Supper of the Lamb
Matthew 22:1-14 ESV
And again Jesus spoke to them in parables, saying, “The kingdom of heaven may be compared to a king who gave a wedding feast for his son, and sent his servants to call those who were invited to the wedding feast, but they would not come.
Again he sent other servants, saying, ‘Tell those who are invited, “See, I have prepared my dinner, my oxen and my fat calves have been slaughtered, and everything is ready.
Come to the wedding feast.”‘ But they paid no attention and went off, one to his farm, another to his business, while the rest seized his servants, treated them shamefully, and killed them.
The king was angry, and he sent his troops and destroyed those murderers and burned their city.
Then he said to his servants, ‘The wedding feast is ready, but those invited were not worthy.
Go therefore to the main roads and invite to the wedding feast as many as you find.’ And those servants went out into the roads and gathered all whom they found, both bad and good.
So the wedding hall was filled with guests.
“But when the king came in to look at the guests, he saw there a man who had no wedding garment. And he said to him, ‘Friend, how did you get in here without a wedding garment?’ And he was speechless.
Then the king said to the attendants, ‘Bind him hand and foot and cast him into the outer darkness. In that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’ For many are called, but few are chosen.”

3 Categories of People Invited to the Marriage Supper of the Lamb
We see in the above parable 3 categories of invited guests to the King’s wedding feast.
The first category were those invited but chose to dishonour the invitation.
The second category were those who were invited, honoured the invitation and dressed appropriately.
And the third category were the invitees that honoured the invitation, but didn’t make any effort to dress in an appropriate and fitting manner.
Our focus today will be on the third category of invitees.
They were invited, they showed up, but they didn’t conform to the standard expected of those attending a king’s wedding.
The king in this parable is God and the invitees are all of us. The son’s wedding is the marriage supper of the lamb which will take place at the end of the world.
Question is which of the 3 categories of invitees do you fall into?

Of the 3 categories, only the second category is good. Because both the first set of invitees and the third set of invitees faced the king’s wrath.
If you’re in the second category of invitees, praise God! Because it means you heeded the invitation and you are prepared for the wedding feast.
Now the thing about being prepared for the marriage supper of the lamb is that it’s a journey and not a destination.
The preparation and readiness is a continuous effort until the day of Christ.
We can never get to that point where we will say oh I’m fully prepared and therefore I just need to fold my hands and do nothing.
The preparation for the marriage supper of the Lamb is a journey and not a destination. It's a continuous effort until the end. #teacupclub #bloggerstribe Share on XGod’s Expectation is that We Become a Perfect Man
That’s God’s expectation for us, to become a perfect man fully furnished unto all good works.
Ephesians 4:13
Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:
Therefore, so long as we are not yet perfect, we must not rest.
Question for the day.
What are the practical things you can do to get ahead in your preparation for the marriage supper of the lamb?
I’ll go first.
One practical thing that readily comes to mind is that I can strive to know God more by spending quality time at His feet. I find that I get closer to God when I study my Bible. And it helps to retain Him in my consciousness. This in turn helps me resist temptation.
Your turn, go!
