Crown of Glory & Royal Diadem – Criteria

To be a crown of glory and royal diadem in God’s hands means to be His treasured possession and showpiece.

God promised in Isaiah 62:3 to make us a crown of glory and royal diadem in His hands.

You shall be a crown of beauty in the hand of the Lord, and a royal diadem in the hand of your God. Isaiah 62:3 ESV

In the previous post on crown of glory and royal diadem, we extensively discussed the meaning of God’s intent to make us His crown of glory and royal diadem. We also examined one of the criteria for becoming a crown of glory and royal diadem. The first criteria is to seek God’s forgiveness for our sins. After that, the next criteria is to seek sanctification.

So in this post, we will review what sanctification is, and using Joseph as a case study, review some obtainable benefits of sanctification.

What is Sanctification?

Sanctification simply put means “set apart”, set apart unto God for His use and glory. Until we are sanctified, God is limited in His ability to showcase us as His crown of glory and His royal diadem. It is the deliberate choice to live a holy and blameless life before God and man and it doesn’t happen by chance, only by choice. You must want and choose to be sanctified by God by casting aside your own wishes and desires and diligently following and obeying the master. To be sanctified means choosing above all else to live according to God’s will and purpose.

It will not always be easy, but God’s strength is made perfect in your weakness (2 Corinthians 12:9).

But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour, and some to dishonour. 21 If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master’s use, and prepared unto every good work. 2 Timothy 2:20-21 KJV

Apostle Paul in the bible passage above gave an explicit description of the kind of vessels we can expect to find in a great house. I bet we all have great houses, and therefore we know the different types of vessels that exist in our houses.

Some vessels have more worth than others both in terms of quality and options for usage. There are regular everyday vessels, there are vessels for special occasions and there are vessels we hide from sight when visitors are around.

From the passage above, we have the liberty to determine the kind of vessel we want to be in God’s Hands. We can be a vessel unto honor, in order words, a crown of glory and royal diadem by purging and sanctifying ourselves. Or we can be a vessel unto dishonor, not reckoned with. The choice is ours, I hope you also will choose wisely.

God Can Remold You into His Crown of Glory and Royal Diadem

God can remold you to be His highly sought-after crown of glory and royal diadem. Because He is the potter and you and I are the clay.

So long as we are yielded to Him, He can remold us according to His will.

Has the potter no right over the clay, to make out of the same lump one vessel for honorable use and another for dishonorable use? Romans 9:21 ESV

The only difference between a literal potter and clay is that the clay is lifeless and therefore easily malleable. But as living beings, we must be deliberate in yielding our will to God’s will.

Because God has said “His spirit will not strive with man continually” Genesis 6:3

This means how far God will go with us is dependent on our level of yielded-ness to His will.

It is not dependent on our past sins and atrocities because when we come to Him through Jesus Christ our Lord, He forgives completely.

As indeed he says in Hosea, “Those who were not my people I will call ‘my people,’ and her who was not beloved I will call ‘beloved.’” 26 “And in the very place where it was said to them, ‘You are not my people,’ there they will be called sons of the living God.’” Romans 9:25-26

God is ever ready to accept, beautify us and make us a showcase of His glory, but the question is are we ready?

Benefits of living a sanctified life – Joseph in the Bible

In examining the benefits of living a sanctified life, we shall review the story of Joseph one of Jacob’s 12 sons (Genesis 37 – 41)

Joseph Sold to Slavery By His Brothers

Joseph was rejected by his brethren out of envy, they wished him evil and did a cruel thing by selling him into slavery. They didn’t consider their father’s feelings, or that they were related to him, they just handed him over.

He was sold to slavery without a thought for his survival, his existence or posterity. It was a wicked thing they did to him, and as if that was not enough, his master’s wife wouldn’t let him rest.

Joseph Accused of Attempted Rape

The poor boy who was finding favor with his master, soon realized it wasn’t meant to last, as he again became a victim. He became a victim of his mater’s wife’s lust, as she sought sexual relations with him.

Joseph was just seventeen years old when he was sold into slavery to people of a strange language, culture, and gods.

His only hope in the strange land was in the God of his fathers Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Yet it didn’t seem as if his name was in God’s register. For how can his name be in God’s register, and all these evils will befall him?

Joseph Chose to Live a Sanctified Life

Despite this, Joseph held unto God. It was the only plausible thing to do, for when you are at your lowest, it is wise to seek God.

This young boy didn’t mind being thrown out of his master’s house, a house where he had quickly risen to second in command. His title? Head of slaves, though he too was a slave.

At least as Head of slave there would have been some benefits attached to the post. Such as avoiding the dirtiest jobs and having the right of first choice in any leftovers.

Moreover, if he had danced to the tune of his masters’ wife, he would have had access to more luxury and the finer things of life.

But he preferred to suffer affliction and live a sanctified life, denying himself of worldly pleasures and choosing instead to live for God.

What Would You Have Done in Joseph’s Shoes?

Do you hope in God against all hopes like the apostles of old, or do you throw in the towel and turn your back on God?

Please listen to me, if you will hear the voice of the spirit, God is not through with you. There is a glory ahead of you. His plan is to make you into a Diadem of Beauty in His hands. But first, He must work on you, all those things that do not mirror Christ in your life have to go. And the only way this will happen is by Him passing you through fire.

Behold, I have refined you, but not as silver; I have tried you in the furnace of affliction. Isaiah 48:10 ESV

When God throws you in the furnace of affliction do you despair and renounce your faith, or do you cling to God? Joseph chose the latter and look what happened. #santification Click To Tweet

Joseph’s Gain for Living a Sanctified Life

When God finished his work on Joseph, he was elevated and became prime minister in Egypt. Prime minister in a country where his only record was that of alleged wrongdoing. He had a prison record as a rapist, though he was wrongly accused. But the record was there.

Similarly, he received favor in a country of strange language. God lifted Joseph up and blessed him beyond his imagination or his brothers’ comprehension. Because Joseph chose to live a sanctified life.

I’d like to encourage you today to stick with God, no matter what you’re passing through. God has great plans for you.

For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. Jeremiah 29:11 ESV

God’s plan for you will eventually unravel, and when it does, it will be beautiful beyond description.

There are several benefits to living a sanctified life. What are some of the other benefits you can think of?

Sanctified life builds peace, removes fear and builds confidence in God that all is well and will be well in face of life challenges.
It removes guilt and gives assurance of God’s ever-abiding presence.
Sanctified lifestyle brings hope to the weak and positions one to be a readily available counselor to those who are confused, those who seek spiritual help to stand or rise again.
Sanctified life gives one boldness to always ask the father for every need and gives access to all His spiritual and even physical treasures.

  4. Hello sister Betty, thank you so much for your writing about sanctification, Joseph’s story and about the Crown of Glory that I came across today. 5. Awesome blog. I just know that in the midst of what is happening in the world currently that God wants to show cast a people that has been molded by Him. A people whom the rest can follow. To get themselves ready for the coming of His Son Jesus…Blessings Betty.

  6. Thank you so much for this. Way back God gave me a promise through Isaiah 62:3, it’s only today that I really got to understand what God meant. I’m going to separate myself for God 😭.

  7. Completely agreed. Praise God. I would appreciate it if you talk more about the spiritual warfare and how we can be effective soldiers for Christ. I would appreciate it if you can discuss more regarding the power of binding, unbinding, and blessing and how these can be effectively used as weapons in a battle field.
