6 Awesome Tips for Finding Peace in the Storm

Are you in the midst of the storm? Is the storm raging all around you? In this post, I share 6 awesome tips for finding peace in the storm and bible verses about finding peace in the storm.

What Is the Storm of Life?

A storm in this context is not like the winter storm I experienced in 2019, which was brought on by nature. What is being referred to here is the storm(s) of life, put another way, it is life’s troubles that threaten to overwhelm us. And this storm varies in magnitude and dimension from person to person, family to family, and even nation to nation. Everyone everywhere has their own peculiar storm to deal with.

For some, their storm is barrenness, another poverty, and yet another, ill health. Whereas for some others their storm is in form of an errant child, or a turbulent marriage. It could even be fruitlessness, i.e., laboring with nothing to show.

We could go on and on and we wouldn’t still be able to completely mention the various storms of life that people face. I gave more examples and keys for survival in life’s storms in another post.

Examples of Storms of Life in the Bible

For the woman by the well of Samaria, her storm was an unsettled home (John 4:17-18), for Bartimaeus his storm was blindness (Mark 10:46-51). Whereas for another woman, her storm was the issue of blood for twelve years (Mathew 9:20-21). And for David, his storm at a point in life was Saul’s death warrant for him (1 Samuel 19-24).

All these people passed through varying degrees of life’s storms and came out intact. It is my prayer that the same God who saw them through will also see you through in Jesus name.

How Do I Find Peace in the Storm?

The question of how to find peace in the storm is a pertinent one especially for believers. Why? Because they are facing the storms of life despite having Jesus as their Lord and Savior.

Is God then a deceiver, did He promise and fail? Before we answer this question, let’s review what He said in his word.

These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world. (John 16:33 KJV)

So, Jesus made it clear that tribulation is to be expected by His followers, however, we are to rejoice because He has overcome the world.

Here Are 6 Awesome Tips for Finding Peace in the Storm

  1. Rejoice and have peace in the knowledge that Jesus has overcome the world: Jesus our Lord did not deceive or brainwash us, he told the truth that there will be storm in this world. But he wants us to rejoice and have peace in knowing that He has overcome the world hallelujah.
  1. Trust God in the storm: a lot of times what makes the storm seem magnified in our eyes is the fact that our eyes are off God and His abilities. And our entire focus is just on the storm. If you can shift your focus from the storm to the God in the storm, there will be peace.
  1. Be courageous and ride out the storm: Sometimes, all that we need is courage to ride out the storm just like Paul and Silas. For Paul and Silas, their own storm was that they were thrown in prison with their feet fast in stocks for preaching the gospel. But instead of bemoaning their fate, they prayed and sang praises to God. And God delivered them from their storm. They allowed the peace of God to reign in their hearts and thus were able to make their requests known to God.
  1. Seek trusted people of God to encourage and pray with you:  so that the peace of God can flood your heart.
  1. Encourage yourself in the Lord like David did.
  1. Move closer to God: seek His face like never before and He will grant you times of refreshing in His presence.

  1. So many are seeking peace in the midst of storms. Love that old song, Turn your eyes toward Jesus and the things of this world will grow strangly dim. IT really helps with we just turn toward Him

    Hi Betty,
Thanks for the writing. I see finding my peace as a journey. In this journey, I must let go of the ties that bind me. filling that space with God’s word and his promises. Sometimes what we hold on to is the catalyst of our storm. I could say more but I don’t want this to be long. Thank you again
