5 Bible Verses to Encourage a Praying Mother

5 Bible Verses to Encourage a Praying Mother

These 5 Bible verses are meant to encourage a praying mother not to stop praying for her children. Because the Bible enjoins us always to pray and not to faint (Luke 18:1), furthermore, we don’t know the prayer that will rend the heavens.

As it is written;

6 Sow your seed in the morning, and at evening let your hands not be idle, for you do not know which will succeed, whether this or that, or whether both will do equally well. Ecclesiastes 11:6 (NIV)

If you are a praying mother, I bless God for you but if not,  I hope this post will encourage you to start praying for your children.

Let me quickly chip in here that it’s not only mothers that have a duty to pray for their children. Indeed we will see from this post that it’s important for fathers to also pray for their children.

The prayer of father Abraham for his son Ishmael went a long way to preserve the young boys’ life.

I am honored to share these 5 Bible verses to encourage a praying mother at Healing Home today.

5 Bible Verses to Encourage a Mother that Prays for her Children

As we all know, children come in all forms, shapes, and sizes and that is putting it mildly.

Children have different temperaments, some are easy-going while some will test the limit of your patience.

Every mother should pray for her children regardless of their behavior or mannerism.

A good child deserves prayer and a “bad” child needs prayers.

What other encouragement does a mother need besides this? For we know that; “the effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much” James 5:16

Furthermore, God has a plan for every child and it’s our duty as mothers to stand in the place of prayer for our children.

5 Bible Verses About Mothers Prayers

Today by the grace of God, I’ll share 5 bible verses to encourage a mother that prays for her children.

It is my hope that these 5 bible verses about mothers’ prayers will encourage every mother to pray for their children.

Call to me and I will answer

The first bible verse about mothers prayers that we will look at is;

Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know. Jeremiah 33:3 (NKJV)

This bible verse is God’s promise to every mother. And if you recall the story of Rebekah, that’s exactly what she did.

When Rebekah was pregnant she noticed there was a struggle in her womb and she sought God in prayer.

22 But the children struggled together within her; and she said, “If all is well, why am I like this?” So she went to inquire of the Lord. 23 And the Lord said to her: “Two nations are in your womb, two peoples shall be separated from your body; One people shall be stronger than the other, And the older shall serve the younger.” Genesis 25:22-23 (NKJV)

Rebekah prayed to God concerning her unborn children and God showed her great things she didn’t know.

In an age where there were no imaging devices, Rebekah divinely knew she was carrying twins.

Not only that, but God also showed her the future of her children. And God will do the same for any mother who asks.

Ask, Seek, Knock

The second bible verse about mothers prayers that we will look at is in Mathew 7:7-8;

7 “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. 8 For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened. Matthew 7:7-8 (NKJV)

This is another of God’s promises to us as mothers and believers, that when we pray we shall receive.

Hannah’s prayer for the gift of a child

Hannah was a woman like us, she was ridiculed by her opponent due to her bareness but she prayed and God answered. You can read more about the lessons learned from Hannah’s prayer in my post on Biblical Examples of Answered Prayers.

Not only did God give Hannah a son, but He gave her five (5) additional children.

21 And the Lord visited Hannah, so that she conceived and bore three sons and two daughters. Meanwhile, the child Samuel grew before the Lord. 1 Samuel 2:21 (NKJV)

Do you have a need for your children? Ask God, seek His face, and knock on heaven’s doors through prayers.

  1. Thank you for these verses! Moms need all of the help and strength possible to raise our beautiful children, and it’s a comforting reminder that everything we need is provided if we just ask.

  2. Thank you for this post! I don’t have children on my own, but I am a proud aunt and I lift my nieces and nephew often in prayer. The verses you share are very needed encouragement and a reminder to continue to pray for the children in our lives!

    1. Yes, Hadassah. You got it! We don’t have to limit our prayers to biological children alone.
      Truth is God rewards every labor of love done in righteousness.

  3. I am starting to pray for my kids more. At first it kind of seemed pointless. They will suffer. They will have bad dreams. They won’t always be protected. But I’ve started to pray and notice that it changes me. That it gives me God’s heart for my kids. It’s so important.

  4. I have two teens having a bumpy road and have been praying multiple times a day. I have also reached out to have friends pray for them. This constant effort is starting to bring miracles. My daughter since COVID has not had as many friends and last night a friend stopped by. My son needs to make better choices and I pray God foils any negative things that get near him and that they both are divinely guided. May the blood of Jesus shower over your children and mine and protect and guide them all. Thanks for this beautiful post
