Believe in yourself and you will rise above your limitation(s)

When you believe in yourself, you can and you will rise above your limitations no matter what they are, or for how long they have been there.

What Does It Mean to Believe In Yourself?

To believe in yourself means to have confidence in your abilities, skills, passions, and capacity to succeed. I’m not talking about baseless confidence here as in the case of a poorly prepared student who goes into the exam hall expecting a miracle. Because such a student will definitely fail the exam. But believing in yourself means not doubting that you are enough when you have the knowledge and ability to carry out your endeavors.

How Do You Begin to Believe In Yourself?

To begin believing in yourself, you should start from your mind because victory begins in the mind as that is the first battlefield we must learn to conquer.

Guard Your Heart Dilligently

The reason the Bible tells us to guard our hearts is that whatever we think of in our hearts will become our reality. If you are defeated in your mind, the defeat will translate to the physical.

Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it spring the issues of life. Proverbs 4:23

If you believe in yourself, then you can rise above any limitation that you encounter.

Example of Someone Who Believed in Himself in the Bible – David

David believed in himself even as a young shepherd boy and that was why he had the confidence to fight and kill Goliath, a feat none of the seasoned warriors of Saul’s army could dare. (1 Samuel 17:22-51)

If we review the above bible passage, we will see some lessons to be learned from it.

Lessons Learned From David Who Believed in Himself in the Bible

  1. David did not allow what his brother thought of him to deter him. (1 Samuel 17:28)
  2. He was confident of his own ability. (1 Samuel 17:32)
  3. David reckoned with his past victories of killing both the lion and the bear. He did not dismiss them as inconsequential and that gave him confidence to confront Goliath. (1 Samuel 17:34-36)
  4. He trusted that the same God who rescued him from the paw of the lion and the bear will rescue him from Goliath. (1 Samuel 17:37)

4 Reasons Why You Should Believe In Yourself

  1. God has a purpose for your life: Our God is a God of purpose and nothing catches Him by surprise, not even conception from a one night stand. He told Jeremiah in Jeremiah 1:5;

5 “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations. ” Jeremiah 1:5 (NIV)

God believes in you and you should therefore believe in yourself.

2. You were created in the image and likeness of God: You were created in God’s image and likeness so you should have God-like confidence in your abilities. God has confidence and you should too. Moreover, the scripture has rightly stated you are “gods” (John 10:34) and God never fails, so you won’t fail at whatever you set your heart to do. God’s ability was imparted into you at creation.

3. God is for you: If God is for you, who can be against you? Believe in yourself because God is for you and He is at work in you both to will and do of His good pleasure (Philippians 2:13). And He will help you for when you are weak, then you are strong.

… for when I am weak [in human strength], then I am strong [truly able, truly powerful, truly drawing from God’s strength]. (2 Corinthians 12:10b AMP)

4. God’s thoughts for you are that of peace: As a good father/mother thinks about his/her child(ren), so also God thinks about you. He has good dreams and visions of what He wants you to be in life, what you should be doing, where you should be going, how you will survive etc. Do you think kindly of yourself too? There is a difference between thinking kindly of yourself and thinking highly of yourself. By thinking kindly of yourself, it means seeing yourself as God sees you.

God’s love for you is unshakable, it is eternal, and it is perfect, open your heart and embrace His love today. Always remember you are a royal diadem, beautiful in God’s hands.

Our mind is a battlefield, if we are defeated in our mind, it’s only a matter of time before the defeat becomes a physical reality. #believeinyourself #believe Share on X
