This is a children’s storybook about the essence of Christmas. And although it’s a Christmas story, it’s a story that is relevant all year round. Because the story of salvation is not seasonal, it’s always timely and relevant. In the book, a boy named Bobby slept and dreamt that there was no Christmas.

Who Should Read this Christmas Story book?

I think this book is appropriate for children and teenagers. Because apart from the story, it contains interactive topics for families and Sunday school teachers.

You can buy and give this book as a gift to your child/children, grandchildren, and children Sunday school teachers.

How the Book Title “If He Had Not Come” was Derived

The book title was derived from John 15:22;

22 If I had not come and spoken to them, they would not have been guilty of sin, but now they have no excuse for their sin. (John 15:22 ESV)

Summary of the Christmas Story Book If He Had Not Come

In the book “If He Had Not Come”, Bobby full of excitement, slept on Christmas eve anticipating a fun-filled Christmas day. Only for him to wake up presumably in the morning, expecting to open his Christmas presents and go to church. Alas, the Christmas tree was gone and there were no gifts! Not only that, there was a vacant lot where his church had been.

Panicked, Bobby went through his whole town looking for signs of Christmas but found none.

Thus, as he roamed the town, he began to realize the importance of Jesus coming.

He gained understanding through the different happenings he witnessed in the town.  Happenings such as cruelty, despair, and hopelessness. And this made him appreciate the essence of Christmas more.

My thoughts on the Book If He Had Not Come

This is a clear and succinctly written children’s storybook.

It is evident from the writing that the author and illustrator are experienced in the art of writing children’s literature.

As someone who grew up reading different children’s storybooks, it wasn’t difficult to put myself in the shoes of a child as I read this book. And I know most, if not all children will enjoy reading this book.

It was well written with age-appropriate word length so as not to bore children. At the same time, it is engaging enough to keep a child interested in reading till the end.

Another good thing about the book is that it contains illustrations. Which are what children love.

Book review: if he had not come a Christmas story of salvation for children

Salvation is as simple as ABC – Book Review: If He Had Not Come

Finally, as the story wraps up, a call to salvation was made using relevant scriptures.

In fact, the steps to salvation were simplified into ABC. With A meaning Accept, B meaning Believe and C meaning confess.

This book is a great resource for telling the story of Christmas to young children. And helping them understand the purpose of Christ’s coming.

It also contains useful questions for interactive sessions among families and Sunday school children.

A book that simplifies the whole salvation message is worth reading by any child.
